This beautifully detailed model was created for Puke Ariki by Nigel Ogle. Nigel is renowned in Taranaki as well as nationally for his model making skills, and Tawhiti Museum in south Taranaki shows off his work in amazing ways. This model details a day in the life of the Alpha oil well, Taranaki's first well, which was opened in 1865 and rebuilt in 1866. It was created by Nigel to go into Puke Ariki's refreshed oil and gas exhibition, Big Time, opened in September 2014.
