Diarrhoea 17th general hospital Alexandria 9/15, then enteritis invalided to Haslar hospital 11/15. Wife Mrs Ellen Eva Cross (of Adelphi, South Avenue, South Church, Southend-on-Sea) and residing at Peverley, Victoria Road, Chingford. Fit for active service 2/16. From Stoker Unit to Blandford RND Depot then to Larkhill Camp for instruction 5/16. Court martial duty 7/16. To reserve battalion 9/16. Boils and septic sores Hale End Hospital Chingford 3/17. To base depot France 12/16. Hood battalion 3/17. Wounded abdomen 23/4/17. Died of wounds at 42nd Casualty Clearing Station 24/4/17. Buried Aubigny Communal cemetery 19/7/17. Killed in operations on the Ancre.
