Description
A set of 12 samples from the Number 4 bore of the Samuels Syndicate wells, near Moturoa. The samples are stored in glass jars. 9 of the jars are short and round with metal lids, while the final two are tall and slender with corks to keep the contents in place.

A set of oil and bore samples from Oliver Samuel’s oil drilling syndicate, from bore 4. Oliver Samuel was one of the directors of the syndicate, and his job was to gather investment from overseas. The syndicate sunk wells from Moturoa out to Omata, but the most successful wells were those clustered around the Hongihongi Stream at Honeyfield’s Farm in Moturoa, such as the number 4 bore. The number 3 well was the most successful for Samuel’s syndicate.
