Photograph album depicting the launching of the "Spirit of Fitzroy" yacht at Blyde Wharf, Port Taranaki, on February 1st 2000. The album consists of 30 pages of black card with 30 photographs including one of the yacht on the front cover. The photographs show the yacht being transported on a truck and being lowered into the water with people and 2 smaller vessels assisting, from the point of view of the crane operator. The inside front cover contains details for ordering copies of the photographs.
The "Spirit of Fitzroy" was the first yacht produced by Fitzroy Yachts Ltd, an award-winning company that closed down in 2014. It was launched to coincide with New Zealand's winning defence of the 2000 America's Cup. Designed by Alan Warwick, it is a 25 metre Pilot House Cruiser yacht. It was purchased by the first potential owner to come onboard at the Monaco Boat Show.
