"The Sphinx!"

Production date
1915
Description
View of "The Sphinx", a destinctive spur that jutts seawards from Walker's Ridge on the Gallipoli peninsula, Turkey. The hillside below the spur is covered in bivouacs. The landscape is dry and barren-looking. Watson noted that when troops first landed at Anzac Cove there was a Turkish sniper concealed in cleft at the top for some days.
