Double copy photograph showing Wi Parera of Tauranga on the left and Haora Tipa of Thames on the right. Parera is wearing a light fabric cloak or shawl over a jacket. His hair is tied back with four feathers in it, and he is holding a long stick with leaves attached to it. Tipa is shown in three-quarter profile looking towards his right. He is wearing a military jacket and is holding a patu. He has a long earring in his left ear and a ta moko tattoo is visible on his face. The photograph is included on page 37 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
