 Description
New Plymouth Aero Club's first aircraft, a Gipsy Moth (registration number ZK-AAX) purchased and registered in 1929. The plane was later transferred into the airforce where it became an instructional aircraft, and may have been destroyed in a fire when it was being transported back to New Plymouth from Auckland where it had made a forced landing. The Gipsy Moth is a two-seat touring and training aircraft developed by the de Havilland Aircraft Company in 1920s Britain. The aircraft is shown on a grassed area with a row of trees in the background. The words "Western [illegible] Hi Flying Club Inc" are visible on the side.
