Copy photograph of 14 members of the 43rd Light Infantry Regiment, 1866. Back row from left are Captains Miller, Unknown, Cairns, Bateman, Hatchell, Onslow and Collinsplatt. Seated on chairs from left is Q.M. Cooper, Captains Clark and Cuppage, Colone Synge, Adjutant Hammick and Captain French. Seated on a rug on the ground is Captain Vesey. Some of the men are in military uniform while others are in different suits. Colonel Synge is sitting in a lounge chair facing his left and Adjutant Hammick is straddling the back of a chair. The men are positioned outside a stone building with sash windows on either side of them and "ANTEROOM" written above the door. The photograph is included on page 35 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
