Copy photograph of Colonel Fiennes Middleton Colville, 43rd Regiment. Colville was born in c1833. He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.). He died in March 1917. Colville is standing with his left arm resting on a pedestal. His hat, cane and glove are also sitting on the pedestal. He is wearing military uniform and has a moustache and a full beard. Colville's right arm is missing as he lost it in battle in Warea in October 1865. The photograph is included on page 32 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
