Copy photograph of Captain Christopher Hore Hatchell, also refered to as Charles, 43rd Regiment. Hatchell served in the New Zealand wars in 1864-5 and drowned in Cork Harbour, Ireland, on 11th October 1870 aged 33 years. The photograph is a portrait bust and shows Hatchell wearing a mid-tone coat with a pocket handkerchief. He has a moustache and beard. The photograph is included on page 32 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
