Copy photograph of Dr William Isaac Spencer, 18th Regiment. Spencer (1831-97) served in the Waikato and Whanganui campaigns before settling in Napier where he became the town's third Mayor. The photograph is a bust portrait that has been cut into an angled arch at the top. Spencer is wearing a dark toned jacket and has a moustache and beard. The photograph is included on page 29 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
