Copy photograph of Lieutenant Alfred R. Hale Swindley, 18th Regiment. The photograph is a bust portrait cut into a partial oval. Swindley is wearing a light toned jacket over a darker tie. He has a full moustache and sideburns. The photograph is included on page 29 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith". The same photograph of Swindley is included on page 22 of the album with a decorative border and listing him as a member of the 65th Regiment.
