Copy photograph of Lieutenant (Sir) St. Vincent Alexander Hammick, 43rd Regiment. Hammick was born in 1839 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Oxford University. He served in the New Zealand Wars from 1864-65. Hammick succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Hammick, of Cavendish Square, London in 1888 and died in 1927. Hammick is seated on a couch with his legs crossed with a carved wooden chair to his left. He is wearing a jark tone jacket and waistcoat with light tone trousers and is holding a pipe in his right hand. The photograph is included on page 29 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
