Copy photograph of Lieutenant Simon Bagge Triphook, 12th Regiment. Triphook (1840-87) served as a musketry instructor and adjutant in the Taranaki Wars and also served in the First Afghan War. Triphook is shows in military uniform with a sword in his left hand. He has a moustache and beard and is standing next to a curtain looking towards his left. The photograph is included on page 26 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
