Carte de visite photograph of Ellen Davies (nee Caddy) who came to New Plymouth with her husband Thomas Davies on the Oriental in 1841. She is seated on a wooden chair with her right elbow leaning on a book on a small table. Behind her are two large dark curtains. She is wearing a light-tone dress with full shoulders and ruffles at her elbows and at the base of the dress. She is wearing rings on her right hand, an earring, a brooch at her neck and an elaborate headband. The rings, earring, brooch and book have all been handtinted green.
