Credit line
The Taranaki Women's Club was set up in 1926, to provide women in Taranaki with a centre to develop their interests in social, public, scientific and artistic affairs. The club purchased a building as their club base in 1950, on Powderham Street in central New Plymouth. From here, all manner of events and club happening were managed, including an active gardening group and a range of social and sporting engagements. Sadly the club rooms were deemed unfit for the Women's Club use, and so the building on Powderham Street was sold in 2012.
