Seated in the front are Betty Boyd, Pat Parkes and Merla Morris. Pat is holding a guitar in her lap. The women are in costumes they wore for "Neath Hwaiian Skies," a dance they performed as part of the Opunake Patriotic Concert on 27 May 1940.

Extract from an Opunake Times review: "Miss Pat Parkes’ solo in the Hawaiian ballet was “My Song of Hawaii” and the ballet frocks were of multi-hued crepe paper featuring floral sun tops, gay leis and flowers worn in the hair."
