Extract from a review in the Opunake Times: " Another dance item which was greatly appreciated was “Desert Flowers,” with Mr S. Watson as vocal soloist. His voice was heard to advantage in this item, and the bright eastern costumes of the ballet all added to the general effect. Those taking part were Mrs J. Morris, Misses D. Wan, M. Gilshnan, V. Hickey, N. McNae and N. Perry. Their costumes were in red, mauve and green, with gold blouses and sashes and peaked headgear. Mr. Watson was also dressed in a red and gold eastern costume."
