Description
A rugby cap worn in 1924 by Cyril Brooks Dingle to represent West End School in rugby. The cap is black velvet with a hard peak, faded red embroidery partitioning the cap into quarters and and a red tassel on top. The cap has " W E S " in an intertwined logo on the front, with " 1924 " underneath, both in red embroidery.

Cyril Brooks Dingle was born in Hamilton in 1909, but by 1919 his family lived in "Roseneath", on Morley Street. Cyril attended West End School and it appears he was a good rugby player - in 1924 he represented both West End School and the Taranaki region. This particular cap was from representing West End School.
