Cyril Brooks Dingle was born in Hamilton in 1909, but by 1919 his family lived in "Roseneath", on Morley Street. Cyril attended West End School and it appears he was a good rugby player - in 1924 he represented both West End School and the Taranaki region. This particular cap was from representing Taranaki.
