Road Working Crew, Opunake

Production date
Circa 1916
Description
A roadworking crew is posed outside the Club Hotel on the corner of Tasman and Havelock Streets, Opunake. The crew consists of three men, a horse-drawn cart and a large piece of machinery identified as a tar boiler. One of the men is leaning on the horse that is attached to the cart. An area of the road in the lower right hand side of the photograph appears to have been smeared with tar or oil. There are two rectangular tins on this area of the road.
