Knew her well my kuia... passed before my eighth birthday birthday my mother was very close to her...my favorite memories were watching her weaving the harakeke at Owai

This stunning woman is my kuia, my great grandmother. She passed away just before my 7th birthday so I was able to spend my early years with my nanny. I don't recall seeing her without a scarf covering her hair in person but I do have a photo of her without a scarf. She was much younger in the photo

I remember this lovely woman when I lived in Waitara. She was a very gentle person with a kind face. Mrs Watson as I knew her, was always dressed in a long black skirt and scarf.
