Description
Ambrotype portrait of an unidentified woman. She is seated with one hand in her lap and her other arm resting on the arm of a chair. She is wearing a skirt and a jacket with a lace collar. The brooch at her neck has been hand tinted gold. She is looking away from the camera. The ambrotype is surrounded by an embossed gold metal matt with embossed metal edging and is contained in a maroon/brown embossed leather case with gold patterning painted around the inside edges. The case lid is lined with red/orange embossed velvet. A single clasp is mounted on the right hand side of the case.
