Description
Ambrotype portrait of Mrs Caroline Foote (nee Hamblyn), wife of Charles William Foote. Caroline is seated and has one hand resting on a table while holding a book. Another book and a vase of flowers also rest on the table. She is wearing a formal dress and a small hat/bonnet. She is looking directly at the camera. Gold paint has been added to a ring on each hand and at her waist. The portrait is surrounded by a thick maroon matt with gold detailing and is framed by an ornate dark wooden frame.
