sea
temperatures
around
Taranaki
were
between
five
and
seven
degrees
warmer
than
today.
Palms,
coral,
tropical
molluscs
and
other
warm
water
species
appeared
in
our
seas.
These
fragments
of
coral
"tree"
were
found
in
Taranaki's
mudstone.
