Description
A Vogeltown Bowling Club badge. The round enamelled metal badge features a black enamelled lawn bowl at the centre of a red enamelled shield. " VOGELTOWN BOWLING CLUB / NEW PLYMOUTH " is marked around the outside of the design on a blue enamelled border and scroll design beneath the bowl. It is mounted with a simple pin on the reverse.

Vogeltown Bowling Club was established at a public meeting of the Vogeltown Progressive Association held on 5 February 1918.

This badge originally belonged to Alexander Douglas (Doug) Gray. Gray was a prominent dentist in New Plymouth from the 1880s until he returned to Auckland in the early 1900s. He won several local bowls prizes while in Taranaki.
