This rugby ribbon marks a memorable result in Taranaki provincial rugby history when the home side drew 3-3 with the touring Springboks. Peter Burke, who captained the Taranaki side that day later cited it as one of his career highlights "They (the South African players) never beat us – but they beat the All Blacks," he said.
