 Description
An N.Z.A Royal Veteran Cross. The bronze Maltese cross is surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves and surmounted by a Victorian crown. " ROYAL / N.Z.A / VETERAN " is marked in the centre and the medal is attached to a suspension bar with a link ring attached to a crimson ribbon. " W. B. DAVIES " is marked on the reverse. A fragment of the red silk ribbon is attached to the simple suspension ring and a suspension bar.

This medal belonged to William Bolland Davies. Davies enlisted with the Volunteers in 1865 and also served as a bushranger and as a trooper with the Taranaki Mounted Rifles and took part in the invasion of Parihaka in 1881.
