Object Detail

Comic-stripe style artwork by Graham Kirk telling "A Tale of Taranaki" in twelve frames. The artwork expresses concern for the environment. In the first frame Mount Taranaki stands amid a pristine, unspoiled landscape. Little by little tramission towers, smoke-stacks, storage silos and pipe-lines are built up around the mountain. These industries begin to take over the enviroment and engulf Taranaki in clouds of pollution. Angered by the state of affairs, Mount Taranaki takes revenge by uplifting himself and squashing the polluting industries. In the final frame Mount Taranaki stands once again amid a clean and green landscape.
