A silver jubilee medal celebrating the reign of King George V. The obverse features left facing half length profiles of King George V and Queen Mary in crowns and robes of state. " GEORGE V AND QUEEN MARY MAY VI MCMXXXI " is marked near the outside. The reverse features a crowned GRI monogram. " MAY 6 1916 " and " MAY 6 1935 " flanks this monogram. The medal is attached to a red ribbon with two dark blue stripes and one white stripe at the edges with a simple ring suspension. It is held in a rectangular case marked with a crown and "1910" and "1935" is marked on it as well.

This medal belonged to William Walter Smith. Smith was an important early New Zealand gardener, naturalist and conservationist. He was curator of Pukekura park from 1908 to 1920. See Te Ara
