A table is visible on the left of the image. It is covered with a tassled table cloth and is supporting a vase of flowers. A curtain is also visible on the left. The carpet is patterned. John and Agnes Veale arrived in New Plymouth aboard the "Hamilla Mitchell" settler ship on 3 February 1854. They were accompanied by a number of their children.
