New Plymouth Brass Band Conductor's Full Score books

Production date
1898
1904
Description
Two conductor's music books belonging to the New Plymouth Brass Band.
The first book contains sheet music for a contest in Napier, 1898. A smaller book has been attached to the rear cover, this book contains sheet music for a contest in Dunedin, 1898. The second book contains sheet music for a contest in Palmerston North, 1904.
It is unknown who the conductor of the band was, or who transcribed the music. During this period, music scores would have been available for purchase; however, it is thought that someone from outside the band would have purchased this music and then the music was transcribed into these books so it would not have to be purchased by the band.
