James [Jim] Johnson, the youngest brother of my gr-grandfather Lt Wm Johnson, was born at New Plymouth on 5 Jan 1852 so was NOT on the 'Amelia Thompson'. His uniform is thought to be that of the Taranaki Mounted Volunteers.
