Description
The Taranaki Metropolitan Agricultural Society's 45th annual A & P Show was held at the Waiwhakaiho Showgrounds near what is now Smart Road on 3-4 March 1920. There are two large stands filled with people watching livestock and horses parade and compete, plus tents and dozens of cars as well as horsedrawn carriages.The showgrounds was also used for club cricket games and, from the 1950s, for speedway meetings. This photo is taken from the hill beside Devon Road, looking down on what is today The Valley Mega Centre and industrial area.

This photograph shows the Waiwhakaiho Showgrounds, probably during one of the annual A&P shows held there for many years. The venue was also used for club cricket games and, from the 1950s, for speedway meetings. The photo is taken from the hill beside Devon Road, looking down on today's industrial area.
