Description
Photograph album compiled by Keith Gladstone Russell documenting a tramping expedition in the Southern Alps from 24 December 1947 to early January 1948. The trip was undertaken by a group of eleven, including Russell, who dubbed themselves 'the Tararuas'. Contains 56 silver gelatin photographs from the tramping expedition accompanied by type-written pages providing a diary of the trip and descriptions for the photographs. The album also includes 14 commercial photographs of the Hermitage, Mount Sefton and other areas in the Southern Alps and a type-written page with a poem entitled 'Ode to the Godley Glacier'.
