Description
Edwin Payne (c.1851-1939) and his wife Elizabeth Payne (nee Coutts) (1858-1945). Elizabeth's uncle (and guardian) established a flour mill in Kakaramea in 1876. Edwin managed then took over the mill and married Elizabeth in 1878. Elizabeth was a Taranaki champion tennis player and played competitively c1900-1915. The couple retired to Hawera.

This is Edwin Payne and his wife Elizabeth (nee Coutts). Elizabeth's uncle (who was her guardian)started an early flour mill in Kakaramea in 1876. Edwin ran and then took over the flour mill within 2 years. The couple married on 19 June 1878. Elizabeth was a Taranaki champion tennis player and played competitively c1900-1915.
