My great-Uncle George Alfred Frederick Willison along with John Burke (both from Urenui) guided Bessie Doyle and her party, all on horseback, from New Plymouth to Auckland along the coast. One night along the way was spent with Malcolm Shearer, at what is now Nukuhakari Station. Malcolm was Fred Willison's uncle, and my great-great Uncle.
