Mary Alice Sadler is the daughter of Robert Stebbing Sadler and Alice Fanny Sadler (nee Ellis). This photograph was taken shortly before the family left England for New Zealand. They arrived in Wellington on 13 October 1889 aboard the 'Ruapehu'. The family then moved to Taranaki.
