Description
Copy photograph of Captain George Buck, 65th Regiment (later transferred to the 14th Regiment). Buck is seated and is wearing military uniform. He holds a sword in one hand. He is sitting next to a table covered with a patterned tablecloth. His regimental cap is sitting on the table and appears to have been hand painted. Buck was killed on 7 September 1868 during the battle of Te Ngutu o te Manu, South Taranaki. The photograph is included on page 22 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
