Description
A large crowd of people queued up outside the Whites Ltd building on Devon Street, New Plymouth, during a wool sale in 1942. Knitting wool was being rationed at the time due to the Second World War. Tram lines are visible in the street and a tram can be seen leaving the frame on the extreme left hand side of the photograph. Other businesses visible include McGruers, Empire Frocks, Maeder Footwear and a hotel.
