Mrs Helen Dixon (middle row, third from left), her son Alfred and daughter Sybil (front), with a group of boarders posed outside the 'Round House', Devon Street, New Plymouth. L. L. Macey is pictured middle row second from the left. Nurse Brenda Smith, who later married Macey, is pictured middle row third from the right. The 'Round House' was shipped to New Plymouth in 1852 by Thomas Hirst and erected on Section 917, fronting Devon Street. It was later run by Dixon as a boarding house. The second storey was added and the configuration of the house changed in the early 1870s. In 1905 it was moved to a new section on Courtenay Street, New Plymouth. The 'Round House' was demolished in 1938.
