A Victory Medal. The yellow bronze medal features a standing Victory figure on the obverse. The figure is holding a palm branch in her left facing hand and extending her right facing arm. " THE GREAT / WAR FOR / CIVILISATION / 1914-1919 " is marked on the reverse inside a leaf design. "53801, RFLM A. MITCHELL, N.Z.E.F." is inscribed on the edge. The ribbon is from a British War Medal and has a watered orange centre with stripes of black and white at the sides and royal blue edges.
Allan Mitchell was working as a clerk when he embarked with the H Company Reinforcements of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade on 16 July 1917.
