Charles Wentworth Minchin (seated on left) and his four children. Standing are Henry Charles Minchin (left) and Frederick Noel (known as Noel) Minchin and seated are serviceman John (known as Jack) Minchin in uniform and Jessie Louisa Minchin (later Andrews). Charles' wife Emily Christina Minchin (nee Gibb) died in 1936.
Jack served with the infantry in World War Two but was captured in December 1941 and spent the rest of the war in POW camps in Germany and Italy. Henry served as a telegrapher in the navy and Noel was in the airforce, and the two brothers became well known as builders in Waitara after the war.

The family name is Minchin. The people in the photo are, from left to right, Charles Wentworth Minchin, And his four children, Henry, John (known as Jack) in uniform, Frederick Noel, known as Noel and Jessie. The occasion would have been a family portrait before Jack left for Europe with the Armed forces, probably 1940. Jack was captured in December 1941 and spent the rest of WW2 in POW camps in Italy amd Germany. The other two sons also served in WW2, Noel in the airforce, Henry a telegrapher in the navy. All returned home safely, Henry and Noel were builders in the Waitaravarea.
