 Description
Serviceman Robert McFarlane Bithell. Son of Walter Thomas Bithell and of Elizabeth Bithell (nee McFarlane), of Birchfield, Nelson, New Zealand; husband of Olive Grace Bithell, of New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. Enlisted for service as a plasterer/civilian in 1941. Rank of Private in 22 Infrantry Battalion. Killed in action on 24 November 1941, Western Desert Campaign, North Africa, aged 34 years. Buried at Halfaya Sollum War Cemetery, Egypt.
