Description
Bithell family group. Serviceman is Robert McFarlane Bithell seated with his wife, Olive Grace Bithell (nee Bonis), of New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. Robert enlisted for service as a plasterer/civilian in 1941. Rank of Private in 22 Infrantry Battalion. He was killed in action on 24 November 1941, Western Desert Campaign, North Africa, aged 34 years. Buried at Halfaya Sollum War Cemetery, Egypt. The young boy, most likely to be their son, still to be identified.
