Description
A white canvas kit bag with brass eyelets around the top. The bag has a brass D ring looped through one of the eyelets. There is a padlock holding the D ring closed, but no key. The bag is stencilled as belonging to 73003 R. W. Syme who fought in the Pacific theatre during World War Two. Originally white, it is now heavily stained.

Used by Raymond Walter Syme during World War Two. Syme was an architect in New Plymouth. He joined the Engineers' Corps and as a Lieutenant, led a unit of men to source water and supplies for the combat soldiers during the battle of Vella Lavella in 1943.
