Description
An Indian Mutiny Medal. The silver medal features a young head profile of Queen Victoria on the obverse. " VICTORIA REGINA " is embossed around the profile. The reverse features a Britannia figure holding victor's laurels, with the British lion alongside. " INDIA" is embossed at the top. "1857-1858 " is embossed near the bottom. "2990. Pte. T. MCSHAIN, 70 FT. " is marked on the edge. The medal is attached to the white and red striped ribbon by a decorative suspension bar. " Pvt T. McShain / 70th Regiment " is handwritten on a piece of paper stuck to the reverse of the ribbon.
