Description
An Indian Mutiny Medal. The silver medal features a young head profile of Queen Victoria on the obverse. " VICTORIA REGINA " is embossed around the profile. The reverse features a Britannia figure holding victor's laurels, with the British lion alongside. " INDIA" is embossed at the top. "1857-1858 " is embossed near the bottom. " PTE C. GLEESON. 70 FOOT " is marked on the edge. The medal is attached to the white and red striped ribbon by a decorative suspension bar. " Chas Gleeson / 70th Foot Reg / 3232 " is written on a paper label attached to the obverse side of the ribbon.
