An audience is gathered inside the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery for a musical concert. Shirley Matthews is playing the piano and Gael Riddle is playing the cello. Seated behind the piano are Margaret Purdy (holding a clarinet) and Allan Purdy. The audience is seated on the left hand side of the photograph. Hanging on the wall are from left: a painting by Richard Killeen, Peter Siddell, "A Place to Stand," 1978, now in the collection of the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, and an undientified artwork.
