William Swadling (ca. 1860-1912) and his daughter Doris Swadling (1904-1960) both ride horses by the largest rata tree in the Kaponga district which was sited on the Swadling farm. The two riders are seen in profile with the large trunk of the rata tree behind them. Doris rides a smaller horse. William wears a hat.
